I’m sure by now we’ve all had it drummed into us how blogging is instrumental in creating leads, newsletter subscriptions, increasing traffic and overall SEO.
According to Hubspot, 60% of marketers say content creation is their TOP inbound marketing priority in 2017. More interestingly is the fact that B2B marketers that blog receive 67% more leads than those that do not.
But what is the point of investing considerable time to create an engaging and shareable blog post if you simply do not know HOW to convert content to leads?
Here are my top 3 tips to drive more traffic and convert leads.
Bear with me, although this seems counterproductive, there is nothing that will make me unfollow a blogger faster than a stream of endless self-promotion. The key is to incorporate the 80/20 rule.
That’s 80% helpful, informative posts in your niche, and 20% promotional posts. Also, try to create list posts that can be easily scanned. After all, how often do you get a chance to read an essay about a certain topic at work?
Calls To Action
This is perhaps the biggest blogging mistake made! According to Small Biz Trends, 70% of small business B2B sites lack a call-to-action. A call-to-action (CTA) is an engaging button or link that you place on your blog post to drive prospective customers to convert to leads through landing page forms.
Are you offering any discounts on your products or services? Do you have an event coming up? Will your company be attending a trade show? At the bottom of your blog post, fit in a call for action with a direct link back to your products and services.
Ensure your call to action is RELEVANT to the blog post!
Sharing Your Content On Multiple Platforms
I’m aware of companies that will market their blog posts on their facebook page, Twitter feeds and maybe on their Instagram account. That’s great if you have a large following, but what if you don’t?
Try joining Facebook groups in your niche and share your blog posts there.
Try joining Google Plus groups in your niche and share your new blog posts there.
I also share my content using Quora. Quora is a question-and-answer site where questions are asked, answered, edited and organised by its community of users. Once I have created this blog post, I will look for Quora users asking how they can create a blog post and share this post. Over time, this increases my traffic and organic reach too.
