I admit it, I along with many others believed in the death of twitter and it’s declining figures. Yet Twitter has been the ONE platform that has managed to provide our clients with;
- Business Partnerships
- Working with Celebrities
- Charity partnerships
- Blog content retweets
- Interviews being published on our founders
I was also pretty surprised that their is such a young audience base! I generally assumed snapchat and Instagram were the most popular platforms to target the 18- 25 market but Twitter is full of these age groups!
So here are some of my top reasons as to WHY we LOVE Twitter and how it has worked the best for us!
Connecting With Influencers
In the past I have used instagram to grab the attention of celebrities that I wished to wear a clients product. I found that our message got lost in a mass of comments and was never seen, even when it was a direct message.
Obviously these celebrities were inundated with D.Ms so the only other way to reach them would of been though their agents.
Now funnily enough, a free gift is not always a free gift anymore. In fact we were asked to pay up to £5,000 for a celebrity to wear our free gift as it was taken as a sponsored post. So what did I do?
Twitter. I simply added certain celebrities my clients wished to work with into our Twitter lists and then I would engage with them, maybe just a reply of retweet a day. Then, after a few days I went in with the ‘we would like to offer you a free gift’ and it worked!
Not only did the celebrities wear my clients products but they were also featured on T.V, in magazines and on Instagram. This meant we had UNLIMITED photos of a celebrity wearing our product on a daily basis!
Retweets From Influencers
Another incredible part of managing to target these influencers in our niche was the effect just ONE retweet could have for our Twitter impressions! Just ONE retweet from a major influencer gave us 145k impressions! – We averaged around 40k a MONTH before!
The great part about all this was that when we had a retweet, their audience base would view our profile and we would always ensure the product or service we were offering was pinned in a post to the top of our Twitter feed explaining the exact offer and a link to it!
Interviews With Major Brands
I also wanted to increase clients backlinks and link to major brands that could reach their desired audience base. But how?
- Firstly ensure the brand has a blog in the first place!
- Add them to your Twitter list
- Engage with them daily, just a tweet/retweet or two
- After they start to engage with you, ask who you can speak to regarding a blog post
- They will give you a name or email address
- Then make sure when you email you mention that you just spoke to them on Twitter and you were directed to here. Once they think that someone within the company with some authority has already spoken to you, they tend to push you up the email chain quicker!
For clients, this resulted in founder interviews by startup brands based in London being shared on a weekly basis. It greatly boosted traffic as well as our presence.
Just remember to check in every day and like all the people that liked you post! All potential future clients/consumers!
Triberr To Share Content
We also wanted to share our blog posts to a mass audience base and have them retweeted as much as possible – Not an easy task if you have tried this already! So we tested out Triberr!
I’ve been keeping this one a secret for a while now and it’s thanks to triberr, my dismal 6,500 reach on Twitter snowballed into a reach of over 20 million!
Triberr is a social network for bloggers. The idea is to find other bloggers who write about the same topics. These writers group up in a tribe.
Whenever one blogger writes a post, the others read, comment and share it with their social networks.
The best part is, you pool together all your followers giving yourself a larger reach. So the more tribes you join, the larger your social media reach.
But what if I don’t want to share the content?
I was in multiple triberr groups for nearly a year, and at least 4 months went by without me sharing a post – mainly due to being overloaded promoting our own content and promotions.
Surprisingly, my reach only dropped by around 1 million, and seeing as I had a reach of over 20 million, it was a small loss. Also, for that whole period of time, my posts were STILL being shared on social media.
How do I set it up?
You can add the Tribber plugin to your WordPress site and connect it so that every blog post you create is automatically shared into the Triberr feed, allowing your tribe members to share your content.
You may also schedule your favourite bloggers posts to appear in your Twitter feed. This can save you hours or scheduling interesting, up to date relevant content!
